CENMAC Ambassador

This week we hear from a CENMAC student and also Ambassador.

One of our CENMAC Ambassadors, Khamani, wrote about his experiences of being invited to attend the TES SEN Show 2021 with CENMAC.

Welcome to our weekly CENMAC blog post. Guest blog from Khamani (CENMAC Ambassador) 

CENMAC were very excited to be back at our first real-life and in-person event after the last couple of years of online conferences. This year, CENMAC invited some of our students to attend the TES SEN Show to help on our stand and meet attendees of the event. One of our CENMAC Ambassadors, Khamani, wrote about his experiences of the day: 

“On Saturday the 9th of October 2021 CENMAC had invited me to the TES SEN show at the Business Design Centre in Islington. It was an event where lots of different companies come together at one event, have stands and show how they help in the SEN community. 

So that day I arrived and at the entrance I got given my exhibitor pass. Afterwards I made my way through the entrance and when I saw everything I was overwhelmed. I first went to help at CENMAC’s stand and it was really nice seeing the different technology CENMAC offers. My favourite piece of technology that I liked trying out was the eye pointer which typed by you looking with your eyes at each letter. 

Afterwards I looked around at other stands and the different companies helping in the SEN community. I particularly liked finding out about Scribeasy who help children by providing storytelling software to help write stories and make children into authors. I was able to network and get some work experience with them. I am looking forward to working with them.  

Overall, I had a great time at the TES SEN Show 2021 because I was able to network and find out about the different things in the SEN community and I am looking forward to going again next year.” 

We hope to be able to offer experiences like this to many more of our students. Don’t forget we also have our own big event next May (one in the south and one in the north) which students are invited to attend and help with.
